There are 3 basic strains of Brandywine tomato going around. The traditional Pink (which I think is a terrible tomato for the South) with potato leaves, another pink and then the Red. Red is not as big or as sweet and typically has the traditional leaves. It does, however, have the complex flavor that people rave about. The red one seems to do better in the South also. Plants are large and vigorous. If you have failed with Brandywine (that would be most of us) try this red strain.
