First introduced in 1914, Porter was developed in Stephanville, Texas by V. O. Porter to withstand the awful Texas growing conditions. He succeeded considering this variety is still going strong after all these years. I have decided Porter is total crap. If you want these, let me know early on and i will custom seed them for you. Some years they have been good for me but this year, it got the award for worst of the worst. Once THAT happens, buh-bye. We had a good growing season this year- Porter rewarded me with horrid little fruit with the texture of wallboard and the flavor of a carpet that an old dog has slept on for years.
