Indigo Kumquat
This is such a beautiful one...and such a pain in the back side to grow. Not the plant...it is easy- smallish and well - behaved. The problem is the fruit itself. It is delicate and wants to split lengthwise once ripe. You really have to keep an eye on these beauties and pick them just before dead ripe. Once off the plant, you won't have this issue. Aside from that, the fruit itself is simply beautiful. Multi - shaded with both bold and subtle colors, it is a really satisfying one to grow. For those of you have grown Kumquats, it really does remind you of them in size and shape. Even though this one has issues in my garden, it may not in yours. Regardless, I will continue to grow this one for its unique appearance even though the seed is ridiculously expensive. Oh yeah, the flavor is quite good!
