Pink Tomato Plants
Arad's Pink Heart
Pink indeterminate
This Hungarian beauty should really delight you with its flavor. For some reason, I always seem to gravitate to the hearts. The flavor, shape and heft impress me across the color spectrum. This one is no exception. Arad's will first and foremost be notable for its terrific flavor. It is also super meaty- not a lot of seeds. The size, for a heart, is not that big- a solid medium but the shape and color are really nice. A gratifying variety to grow!

Arkansas Traveler
Bright Pink
Developed by the University of Arkansas, this vigorous plant has a following for good reason. Fruit averages about 6+ oz with a flavor that matches it color- bright and tangy! Meaty and juicy, you should enjoy this one as much as we do. Able to withstand heat and humidity- something we all need in our gardens. Lenny says this one is great for processing too. The actual name is just Traveler. Somewhere along the line the word "Arkansas" got tacked on. This is ok since it WAS developed in Arkansas, right?

Aubry's Special Pink
Pink with greenish cast to skin Indeterminate
This was introduced by Hudson Valley Seed and comes originally from a man named Aubry who was the grounds keeper for the American Horticultural society. This variety had been grown in Aubry's family for generations. This a large, dense delicious beefsteak type with a rose pink coloring of the flesh. Oddly the skin has a greenish coloring! Why don't you grow Aubry's family heirloom?

Brandyboy Hybrid
Pink
This would be a better choice down here in Dixie if you want to try a Brandywine type. Great flavor and hybrid vigor to overcome the problems with true Brandywine.

Brandywine
Pink
I am not a fan of Brandywine- unlike every tiresome, fawning garden writer who lives in a New York highrise and has probably never even seen one. If its name was Pink Poopy-Doo Doo nobody would probably care about it. Its that name-Brandywine- that makes people buy it. For a lot of years now, this variety has been shoved down our throats as the most amazing tomato ever. Is it good? Sure- if you live in Iowa. Here in the deep South, it really struggles. I hate the fact that (thanks to the garden writers) it is offered so much on racks in box stores in the LATE Spring. Unsuspecting and trusting people get sucker punched, wasting so much time and space on it. Most people get a straggly big plant and one, maybe two (if they are lucky) fruits. If you get them in the ground early and we have a calm Spring with out late frosts, you CAN do well with them; most southern people just plant them way to late.
Ok, all that aside, I do have these plants available. I have some customers who do ok with them and really like 'em. Maybe try one and see if you too will become a believer. Fruits are large, pink and when all the stars align, a very complex, delicious flavor. They also are a potato leaf variety. BTW....If you live North of the Mason-Dixon line, you can disregard my rant. You will do just fine with it.

Burgundy Traveler
Reddish Purple
Heat got you beat? Try Burgundy Traveler! Performing well in the South, this beauty should really be in your garden. Heavy production with an outstanding old fashioned flavor, this strong grower deserves to be tried by everybody. About 5-6 oz, it is great for both canning and fresh eating. A true all purpose Tomato. Some people have said this Tomato reminds them, flavor-wise, of Brandywine. To me, it has a bit more tang. I find it odd more people do not know about this variety- it is a true work horse.

It seems as though the biggest tomatoes are always the pinks. This one is no exception- it is gigantic! This is an old family heirloom from West Virginia.

Dester
Pink
Both Lenny and I love Dester. It is such a good looking, solid, delicious Tomato. As I have said before, I am partial to the big pink beefsteak types and Dester is the one that usually comes to mind when I think about them. Always large fruited, it seems that one pounders were common, Sometimes they were considerably bigger. This old German always gets rave reviews from taste testers.

The Dutchman
Pink
I am a fan of really big pink tomatoes. The Dutchman is a lot like Dester, it will impress you with its flavor and its size. Way over a pound is possible with The Dutchman. This is a very old and at one time, almost extinct strain. This would be a good one for you people who like to baby your plants with extra care. By doing so, you can help it reach its full potential and have a real brag-worthy fruit!

Early Detroit #17
Pink indeterminate
This is an outstanding candidate for canning. Flesh is firm, flavor is balanced leaning a bit towards sweet. Released in 1931, it is close to extinction as the USDA no longer maintains it in its seed bank.

First Love
I have grown First Love for quite a few years now and never cease to be impressed with it. First Love just kinda' rocks. It produces a huge amount of flavorful pink, rather good sized fruit over a long period. It is one of those varieties that just seems to do well no matter the season. In my mind, it does not seem to have any notable flaws such as cracking or disease. It just trundles along, giving you plenty of pretty pink tomatos. What more could you ask for?

Giant Pink Belgian
Pink
Another of the great huge pink tomatoes I am fond of! One and two pounders are the norm for this big sweet slicer. Usually the blossom end is pretty smooth unlike many of the large beefsteak types. This is the kind you use for BLT sandwiches! .

Grandpa's Rose Wax
Rosey pink indeterminate
These medium sized fruit will intrigue you with their shiny pink skin! That is where the term "wax" comes from....the taut skin. Sounds rather unappealing but don't let that fool you. The sweet taste with just a bit of tang ought to be just right in your salad!

Gulf State Market (Livingston's strain)
Deep pink indeterminate
This is a very perfect looking pink, on the large side-sometimes over a pound. Does well in the Southern states. Flesh is firm and tasty, somewhat on the sweet side. Released in 1921.

Louisiana Pink
Pink indeterminate
Growers in hot, humid areas (oh, that is all of us...duh) might want to consider this nice pink. Developed by the Louisiana Experiment Station, it offers multiple root disease resistance along with outstanding heat tolerance. A fine flavored, on the smaller side of average, this tomato should reward you with high yields of great fruit.

Marlowe Charleston
Deep Pink indeterminate
Marlowe is an old family pass-down from the Charleston W.V. area. These big (12=oz) pink beefsteak type fruit will impress you with the flavor, not the production. This is the reason it continues to be so popular. This strain will throw both potato leaf and regular leaf plants but regardless of leaf type, the fruit remains the same- delicious.

Micado Violetter
Pink
I believe this is an old strain from Australia, something you don't hear often. Micado is a smallish pink Tomato with a big, bold flavor! It also has the unique Potato leaf trait just to add a little interest. This one is a terrific salad Tomato. Production is often remarkable.

Monomakh's Hat
Pink Multi-color
This is one of Lenny's' favorites. It is so unusual! Kind of a big heart shaped solid fruit. The coloring is very distinctive too. Overall, it is pink but across the top, it will shade into a yellowish, pinkish- I don't know, hard to describe. Something about this one is satisfying to grow and look at. Same thing when you have it in your hand, its weight and solidness just feel "right". I am sure you long time gardeners know what I mean. The size is very good...around 10oz + and the flavor is out of this world. We really enjoy this one. Lenny can pronounce the name effortlessly. I make a bunch of jumbled noises.

Mortgage Lifter
Pink
This one is big, pink and popular! Introduced from West Virginia in the 1940's it is as popular as ever. Wonderful, old fashioned flavor that I tend to find in these big pink types. There are a ton of stories associated with this variety along with multiple strains. This is Radiator Charlies.

Ozark Pink
Pink indeterminate
This is an introduction from the University of Arkansas- one of a number of true classics from the home of the Razorbacks! A heat, humidity and highly disease resistant tomato that should feel right at home anywhere in Dixie. It comes in at 7oz.- the size that I personally find perfect. It is a perfect handful. Its color is a very rich pink and the texture leans more towards firm- another trait I rather like. Oh yeah, I suppose you are wondering about the flavor. Rest assured! It is great and a bit on the sweeter side.

Pale Leaf Mortgage Lifter
Pink
Ok, this is for people like me who like weird. Pale leaf Mortgage Lifter is simply a leaf color mutation of the regular Mortgage Lifter. Same in all respects as the regular one EXCEPT for the plant having strange kinda' bright chartreuse leaves. Oh boy! You can brag that the creepy colored plant in your row is, in fact, healthy as a horse! I just can't help but be drawn to the unique. I find it interesting that this past year its production beat regular Mortgage lifter!

Pink Jazz
Pink tiger stripped, Indeterminate
Here is a nice one! Really big (one pound) bright pink with a multitude of streaks and stripes. Introduced by renowned Tomato breeder Fred Hemple, this remarkably flavored fruit will catch your eye and surprise you with its great flavor! Lovers of giant pinks (like me) should certainly try this beauty. I think this one is quite special.

Pink Stuffer
Pink indeterminate
I have brought back a few of these stuffing types this year. If you get a moment, click on over to the variety called "Get Stuffed"- it is located in the bi-color section. I describe them in more detail. This one is bigger than "Get Stuffed" but the idea is the same. This is not a tomato to be used as a slicer, it has a very specific use and for those creative cooking types, a plethora of possibility. Just do it!

Ponderosa Pink
Pink indeterminate
This is an old, well regarded big pink beefsteak type that has the ability to produce very large pinkish fruit. In our garden, without any special care, we average about 10 oz. Baby it and you can get them way over a pound. The flavor is mild and pleasant. Also known as Henderson's Ponderosa. Funny thing- every year when I grow it out, I act all surprised when I see how nice it is. Like somehow, because it is common, it will be unremarkable. You know that old saying "Familiarity breeds contempt"? Tomato growers suffer from this. We are such snobs. Pffft.....

Purple Dog Creek
Deep pink indeterminate
Outrageously good flavored deep pink tomato from Kentucky will surely surprise you with it sweet and complex flavor. Its history is not well known other than it has been grown regionally for a long time in the Dog Creek area of Kentucky. This a very popular one for a number of good reasons. It does not shut down in high heat periods- a real bonus for us in the South. The flavor is top-flight making it a true standout. The size is variable, from small-medium to quite large one pounders- something for everyone with that size mix! Purple Dog Creek is often considered a "must try" variety. BTW...back in the old days, pink tomatoes were called purple. This undoubtedly why a deep pink tomato such as this has the name purple in it.

Deep Pink
Ok, this one has almost everything going for it. It is big (14 to 21 oz. in our garden), it is beautiful, and it is amazingly delicious! Me and Lenny both go nuts for this one. Easy to grow and easy to love. I am willing to bet once you see and taste this one, it will be a permanent addition to your garden each year. That's not a bunch of hyperbole. I need to get a new photo of this one. Think I took this picture with my Flintstones era camera. Yuck.

Siberian Pink Honey ("Rozovyi Myod")
Pink indeterminate
A HUGE pink heart shaped tomato that is simply astounding. The flavor is top-notch and production is amazing for a heart shaped tomato. When well grown, these babies will go over 2lbs. Aside from its size, you will notice how meaty they are. No hollow cavities- just heavy pink tomato without a lot of seeds. You have heard me before saying how much I dig the heart shaped tomatoes. After rowing this one, I suspect you too will become enamored of them. This one just has so much going for it. It is not a heat lover though. Make sure you get them in the ground on time.

Speckled Peach
Dark pink indeterminate
Here is an odd old one from Germany! Like other "peach" varieties, the skin has a light coating of fuzz on the fruit! Super productive smallish salad sized slicers that, if you look close, will have lighter speckles on the skin. This is a very sweet little tomato that you might well enjoy.

Sutton's Peach Blow
Pink with hints of other colors indeterminate
In 1897 an English company (Sutton and Sons) introduced this unique tomato. It almost disappears until the 1990's when it was rediscovered by Craig LeHouliier (a well know tomato enthusiast) languishing in the USDA seed bank. What is unusual about this variety is that the skin of the fruit, rather than being shiny, has a matte finish. This is where the name is derived- Peach Blow was a type of glassware popular in Victoria times that had a similar appearance. This strong growing variety has not only an unusual appearance but a remarkably good flavor as well! Coming in at around 6-7 oz, it fall squarely into a good sized medium fruit.
I have grown this one on and off over the years and have always liked it.

Traveler 76
Pink indeterminate
The University of Arkansas released this improved form of (Arkansas)Traveler in 1976. The goal was to improve crack resistance and increase size. They succeeded and here we are, 45 or so years later -and it is standing the test of time. Well flavored, it comes in at 6-7 oz. and is quite pretty in a very uniform way.

Watermelon Beefsteak
Pink indeterminate
This old-timer from the 1800's might be a contender for your garden this year. Very large to sometimes huge rich, pink beefsteak type fruit will cover your hamburger in one slice. Pinks, in my garden, always seem to be the prize winners in production and size. This one is no exception. In the past few years, this one is getting a lot of attention by the tomato know-it-alls!
