Orange & Yellow Tomato Plants
Apricot Zebra
Orange with green stripes indeterminate
Sometimes you just don't know where to put a tomato based on its color. I suppose I should create a section for weirdos but for now, this will have to do. This is a saladette sized fruit, think large golf ball. Now, visualize a bright tangerine orange fruit with green shoulder and pretty green stripes here and there running down the length of it. Add to these facts that it is a meaty, juicy and delicious with strong notes of fruitiness and you will have fun little super star in the garden!

Banana Legs
Ok, this one is cute. These smallish plants produce a good amount of rather narrow bright yellow torpedos. I could see little kids diggin' this one simply because they are kind of kid sized. The flavor is mild- your not going to fall over backwards when you take a bite but I promise you will smile a little when you pick them. This would be a fun one on a garnish tray along with several other colored types.

Basinga
Pale Yellow indeterminate
I like Basinga. The color is sort of different from other Yellows, very light but still intense, particularly if grown in Fall. This is a big solid feeling fruit that is in the 8-12 oz. range. The flavor is mild but not bland..just sort of easy going and pleasant. People who buy one out here at the greenhouses tend to get another the following year. They must like it as much as I do.

Chef's Choice Yellow hybrid
Yellow indeterminate
Part of the Chefs Choice series like Orange above, you now have a true rainbow of colors to pick from that will out produce heritage types but maintaining the flavor and beauty with far greater disease resistance. All Chefs Choice varieities are large fruited. Want some color in your garden? Go for it!

Dads Sunset

This bright, dazzling Orange ought to be in your garden! Big perfect 10oz. fruit with a great balance of flavor will please you in all ways. Nothing like a slice of sunshine on your BLT sandwich! Yum! This one always pleases me.

David Davidson
Orange indeterminate
This is a Tennessee heirloom from ... you guessed it, David Davidson. This medium sized, orange tomato will tend to set in clusters. You will notice that the shape tends to be somewhat variable in a way that I often see on this size tomato. The flavor is sweet and quite balanced. Who knows? This might become your new favorite!

Dr. Wyches' Yellow
I like yellow tomatos a lot and this one is no exception. A big, solid meaty beauty that I find easy to grow. The fruit will often times go quite large- 12 oz + is not unusual and when well grown, can be huge! The flavor is not overly mellow like some yellows. Rich and fresh as I expect a yellow to be. The yellow coloration is not true, like, say, Lemon Boy. It can blend into goldish or orange. A good one all around.

Earl of Edgecombe
Orange
When the 6th Earl of Edgecombe died in the 1960's, the next in line for the title was a New Zealand sheep farmer. When he traveled to England to claim his title, he brought the seeds of this variety with him! Cool story but what makes this interesting is when the late Dr, Carolyn Male, the "godmother" of heritage tomatoes did her 1996 grow out, she awarded this as "the best" that season. Believe me, that is saying something! All this aside, Earl Of Edgecombe is a beautiful, pure orange, smooth and uniformly ripening fruit that will typically be in cluster of three or more. Medium in size, the flavor is exceptional- just the right combination of sweet and tart.

Feng Shui
Orangeish Yellow indeterminate
Of Chinese origin, this brightly colored Tomato is a very strong grower with heavy production of 4.5 oz fruit that are somewhat heart shaped. Has a "big" Tomato flavor that we found to be very satisfying. We like it a lot! Year after year, we hold this one in high regard. It is a total tomato machine. If you are a lover of yellows like I am, you ought to give this one a try along side your favorite.

Garden Peach
Pale Yellow
I enjoy growing Garden Peach. Similar to Wapsipinicon Peach, this one has a higher production and slightly smaller fruit. One of the things that really stands out about this one is the simple volume it cranks out. Sometimes I look at these plants and am astounded that they are able to even support that much fruit when it is going full full throttle. I also enjoy the feel of these - vaguely like it has a layer of velvet on it- like, well, a peach but not so heavy. I like the flavor of these too, pretty balanced and not dull. I even canned a bunch of these this season. I noticed that oddly, they seem to take longer to go bad sitting on the counter waiting for my attention. Just a sorta' fun one to grow. The color is yellow but a very pale shade. Ones that are protected from the Sun under the leaf canopy can almost appear white.

Glory of Moldova
Intense orange
Here is a very nice old-time variety that you ought to like. Orange with a strong yellow undercast, these smaller sized fruit will set in large cluster of 6, sometimes more. This is a very good one for salads- the size is just right to cut up. The flavor is on the mild side, more sweet than tangy. It should please most palettes.

Goldie
Golden Orange Indeterminate
To bad the name is sort of bland and obvious; it deserves something way better. This one is often considered one of the best in its class. It gets tough trying to decide the "best" one. I guess that is what is fun about tomatoes, seeing which one is best for your particular growing conditions, right? Goldie is big, over a pound is typical. It has a unique texture, often described as velvety along with a very rich flavor, when you cut one in half, it is just beautiful. No matter what- if you are in the market for a big golden orange Tomato, try this one. I am willing to bet you will find this a "must have" each year. I know that if I had to pick, oh, say, only 15 kinds for my garden, this would be one of them.

Juan Flame'
Orange indeterminate
Small and sweet, a great salad tomato that has been grown for quite a long time. The plant is a calm grower. I never notice it getting out of control in my garden. I just does its thing- and you reap the rewards! Many people grow and like this one.

Jubilee
Orange indeterminate
large, almost beefsteak type vibrant orange fruit that is regarded as very low acid. Jubilee has been around forever and a day. It has stood the test of time and tends to be pretty well adapted to most areas. I am almost certain this is the strain my Great Grandmother grew in her garden each year when I was a kid. Over the years, this has been one of the few "other" colored tomatos that has always been available on seed racks.
The Summer of '18 we had a severe drought which caused extensive damage to my Tomato plantings. Oddly, Jubilee seemed to shrug off the worst of it and continued to produce quite well, offering up its delicious fruit when others were lying on the ground, begging for mercy.

Kelloggs's Breakfast
Orange indeterminate
There are always arguments about which is the "best" in each color class. Many people say this is the one. Very popular in many parts of East Texas- that alone tells you something. We do not have the best climate for the big beefsteak types. Really delicious flavor, mild but far from bland. Like many of the orange beefsteak types, a slice of this is perfect for your sandwiches because they are not sloppy juicy. You can plan on a lot of one pounders.

Lemon Boy Hybrid
True Yellow semi-determinate
This is a perennial favorite of mine. I have grown it for years. Lemon boy is a clear, true yellow without any orange cast or shading. What makes it remarkable is the production. I have had years where nearly every other type failed due to weather but there, chugging along, is Lemon Boy. One year, disease pressure was so high that it had nearly defoliated- but still, bright yellow tomatoes were hanging all over it. This is a good example of hybrid vigor. It is even a great producer for the Fall garden. Lemon Boy is probably the only "different" colored variety that I sell whole flats of to the same person here at the greenhouse. If you are a red Tomato person and the idea of any other color bugs you, try this one. You might become a convert to the world of "other" colored tomatoes!

Lenny and Gracie's Kentucky
Pale yellow indeterminate
I am not a fan of the over used word "heirloom" that is stuck to every old (and sometimes not old) tomato plant offered these days. This one might well earn the word. In 1993, these seeds were collected by Rodger White from Lenny and Grace Adams of Eastern Kentucky. This variety had been grown by many generations of the Adams family- and now you can grow it too! Lenny and Gracie are gone now but you can think of them as you pick what they and their family have enjoyed all those years ago. This fruit is a beautiful pale yellow sometimes blushed with a bit of pink both internally and externally. This is one of those types that is slightly flattened- a shape I, myself, kind of like. Coming in around a pound or less, this plant will produce very large crops for you. The flavor is mild and quite sweet. The texture is very meaty- a great one to cut for salads for sure!

Orange Accordion

Freak-show alert! Want a tomato that will turn heads? Here you go. Very large, deeply pleated and ruffled and containing few seeds, this one is an eye-popper. You should see a cross-wise slice of these!

Orange Angora
Orange indeterminate
This is a very rare variety. I have had it for a number of years and I am just now starting to see seed coming available from other sources. What makes this plant so special is that it is covered with fine, dense, silvery white fuzz! This one jumps out at you in the garden and is, to my eye, beautiful. The fruit is on the smaller side, about 4oz and produced in abundance. The flavor is very good too! You really need to grow this one. It is pretty unlikely any of your gardening friends will have ever seen it, much less grown it! This is a mutation of Red Angora. The plant does not tend to get huge- it stays very polite in the garden.

Oxheart Orange
Orange indeterminate
I always enjoy the Oxheart style tomatoes. Typically, the fruit is somewhat pointed at the bottom end as are all Oxhearts. Size can often go to 16 oz. Nice, mild flavor with a rich, pleasant color. The Oxheart class of tomatos tend to have rather thin, wispy foliage.

Persimmon
Orange
This big orange is both mine and Lenny's' favorite in its class, hands down. Big, kind of ruffled 1 lb fruit nearly glow when you cut them, the beautiful orange color runs right thru the fruit. The best part is that typically, orange and yellow colored tomatoes tend to be on the mild side. Not so with Persimmon. Super full of tangy flavor, you would be hard pressed to call this one mild! A terrific slicer, you just ought to take my word for it and grow one for yourself. I consider this one and Goldie as almost the same except Goldie does not have the pleats in the fruit.

Pike County Yellow
Yellow indeterminate
This productive bright yellow heritage variety has been grown in Kentucky for decades. Perhaps it is time for you to grow it also! This big 1 pounder will delight you with its flavor. Some yellows are a bit too sweet without any counter balance of tang. Pike County has both but still more to the sweet side and very juicy. A great one for a nice hamburger slicer!

Pineapple Pig
This is a Brad Gates introduction from Wild Boar Farms. Brad is responsible for a large number of very popular new varieties in the past decade. I offer a number of them. Most of them are remarkable in their crazy colors and patterns along with great taste. This piggy is no exception. Overall, it is a creamy yellow though it is actually a bi-color. It is suffused with a pinkish tone that is very appealing. The flavor is on the mild side with a pronounced sweetness. It is also very big! Easily one or more pounds per fruit. I haven't had this one for a few years but I got ahold of a good quantity of seed....so here it is! Pig out on this one!

Plum Lemon (AKA Wonderlite)
Yellow
I grew this in the late 90's as Wonderlite. When I ran out of seed I went to reorder it and it was not available anywhere. I did not realize until years later that it had been renamed (or its old name returned) and it was right under my nose! Now I have seen it under both names. This is a really good plum/paste type yellow. Not really a big plant but has good production of bright yellow fruit- no real undertones of orange. The flavor is quite good too. It comes in at about 4-5 oz and is rather meaty. The original seed was collected in Moscow in 1991 by Kent Whealy, a noted Tomato expert. By the way, yes, it does look a lot like a lemon- pointed on each end.

Pork Chop
Pork chop is kinda' cool. I could not figure out why it has such a stupid name. Pork Chop? Ewww....not appealing at all. I then realized it is a Brad Gates introduction from Wild Boar Farms. He often names his tomatos in a hoggish way lol. I guess it would really be more of a bi-colored tomato rather than a yellow/orange with its swirls of pink overlaying the fruit. Well, whatever the case, it is a big, hefty well shaped fruit that was very good. The plant was vigorous and healthy too. I like Pork Chop. Still think the name is totally gross.

Primrose Gage
Buttery yellow
This saladette sized fruit packs a flavor punch! Many yellows lean way towards sweet- not Primrose! This one has some real tang! This variety has an uncommon trait I find attractive in tomatoes- bluish grey green foliage. I can only think of a few others we grow that show this.

Sun Ray
Bright Orange Gold
I always forget how beautiful Sun Ray is until I see it glowing in the garden. The name is very fitting. At about 6-7 oz., Sun Rays fruit is good sized and that intense color goes all the way through. In Lenny's notes she writes "big garden tomato flavor". I think that pretty darn much sums it up. Just a great Tomato you will enjoy growing.

Tangerine
Yellowish Orange
This tomato almost became an orphan for us. I originally bought this seed from an uneducated seller who told me it was the cherry form (also named Tangerine) that I was looking for. It most certainly was not a cherry. I was angry about this when I found out; I was just going to toss out the baby with the bath water and not worry about it. As usual, I had set some in the garden to test it. Well, what a nice tomato this turned out to be! Quite pretty, with a good, solid medium plus size (6 oz) fruit that had a mild Tomato flavor yet was tangy. Mild and tangy don't tend to go hand in hand. Also, it had very low amounts of seed in it. Just a really nice Tomato. I am glad we gave it a chance. I have also noticed it sets even when conditions are less than optimal. Note to self...I need a new photo of this one. My old camera sure was crappy.

Valencia
Orange
An old Maine heirloom bearing 8-10 oz smooth skinned glowing orange fruit with a golden yellow interior. A nice, classic orange that overall is mild but has a distinct zip in the flavor. I have been more and more impressed with this one as the seasons go by. Apparently this Yankee Tomato seems quite at home here in Dixie!

Wapsipinicon Peach
Yellow indeterminate
Ok, here is an interesting little guy. Why peach? Well, the skin of the fruit has a light fuzz! Actually I believe all Tomatos have fuzz but it is so faint you don't really notice it. The Wapsi is pale, rather creamy yellow. Flavor has often been described as fruity. To me, it is simply sweet with some pleasant undertones. This is a smallish fruited variety- well suited to use in salads. Just that perfect size! Production is often times absurdly huge. Originated in Iowa in the late 1800's along the Wapsipinicon river. I used to live near there, years ago.

Yellow Giant Belgian
Yellow Indeterminate
This a very old strain, mid 1800's or so. Still popular after all these years, this very large fruited variety will produce lots and lots of slightly flat, mild flavored bits of history. Give it a shot!

Yellow Oxheart
Yellow indeterminate
Oxheart shaped tomatos are always sort of nice to grow. Typically the plants are rather spindly and weak looking and this one isn't any exception. Seeing those large, elongated fruit amidst the thin foliage is just kind of satisfying. Yellow Oxheart will not knock you over with production but it is steady as she goes. Flavor, to me, can best be described as pleasant. BTW...the color can shift into a somewhat orange shade.
