In 2021 I will not be stocking Koi in the Spring. I am in the process of rethinking how I want to do it.
The price list for the Koi is below. You can assume that these fish are top quality- they are NOTHING like you will see at PetsMart ect. In fact, I doubt you can find this quality anywhere in the Arklatex. In the Autumn, I really let my inventory run down to nearly nothing. I start ramping back up in late Winter. The prices below are subject to change each year but in general, you can expect something around this.
-4" Hikari (Metalic) standard fin Koi--- 8.50
8"-10" Hikari (metallic) standard fin Koi--- 40.00
6"-8" Premium grade Butterfly fin Koi--- 35.00 (Most of these are metallic)
8"-10" Premium grade Butterfly fin Koi--- 45.00
Premium select (highest quality) Butterfly fin Koi---75.00
6"-8" Hikari (metallic) Butterfly fin Koi... 45.00
The Hikari (metallic) groups of Koi are stunning! Even the smallest ones shimmer like jewels.
I have pond grade (both standard fin and Butterfly) Koi in all sizes, some quite large. Inquire as to prices. These are quite attractive.
You can assume that I have quarantined ALL these fish for a long period of time. I refuse to sell any that I would even SUSPECT might have an issue with health. It is one thing to lose a single fish, it is altogether another thing to lose your entire collection due to disease introduction. I do NOT mix my fish with each other- they remain segregated by groups as they arrive, right down to the last fish in the vat. This allows me to continually monitor the health of each group. You long-time Koi keepers understand my fanaticism about this. New hobbyist will come to appreciate it. I always warn customers NOT to purchase fish willy-nilly from just anywhere. Your fish are expensive and there are simply too many disease issues that you WILL encounter if you are not careful. Somebody (Joe P.?) once told me regarding Koi- "if a lot of people spit in the pond, someone is going to get sick". It is a good analogy.
So, in a nutshell, no matter how pretty that Koi or Goldfish is that you find at the local box store, do NOT purchase it. A) it is not cheaper. I am actually less expensive for the same size and far and away better quality. B) Central filtration systems used in box stores are nothing more than pestilence farming. C) Treating a Koi Pond with medication is an expensive undertaking.
