Bicolor Tomato Plants
Alice's Dream
Multi-shaded yellow/orange /red/blue
This is a total beauty. It is actually considered an antho variety which can give it a cast of blue, particularly across the shoulders of the fruit. The flavor tends towards sweet with a complex finish. I have enjoyed growing this one. The size is a solid medium, a nice smaller handfull.

Ananas Noire (AKA Black Pineapple)
Green/yellow/purple
This is an unusual colored fruit that has become very popular in the past decade or so. Large and with good production, this one is a favorite among connoisseurs. The first time I grew it, I did not like it. I had neglected it by not giving it any water and it was in a sandy, droughty area of my garden. I was rewarded in kind with distasteful, puckered tomatoes. A few years later, I grew it again and actually took care of it-imagine that? Anyway, the result was quite different this time around! Big, fruit with a rich, deep shading of many color and a great sort of smokey flavor. I do not think it is that pretty on the vine- cracks and some pleating but it shines when you slice ii. It is one of the varieties that seems to not go out of style. It is of Belgian origin.

Big Rainbow
Bicolor
This is a big, beautiful yellow with often intense reddish pink striping running down the length. A beefsteak type, you can assume, if well grown, you will be picking tomatoes over one pound a lot of the time. This is a slicer supreme! Plants are big, along with the fruit. This is a very old heritage variety that has been passed down for generations.

Big Zebra
Red with green stripes, indeterminate
This is a pretty and sweet tomato that should make you smile as it ripens. The fruit is primarily red but you will notice green stripes running from crown to blossom end. This unusual coloring extends to the inside too but manifests as green and pink! The flavor leans to sweet and the size is 8+ ounces.

Blush Tiger
Yellow/Pink - almost a cherry
This is a really nice one. I never skip planting it in the garden. It's about 2 inches long and rather narrow. Also, is a soft yellowish pink. This one is very nice when sliced lengthwise in a salad. The flavor is calm and pleasant as is the growth of the plant. Size wise, it sits between a Cherry and a standard Roma type. Hard to classify... think I hear the term "Saladette" when referring to this series (Artisan, I believe).

Cascade Lava
Red with orange stripes and grey speckles
Ok, this is just a cool, weird, fun and interesting one. A Wild Boar Farm introduction (as are a number of the new and interesting varieties we offer)- this one might have you scratching your head. Overall, it is red with orange striping. Nother odd there, right? Now, splatter it with grey freckles! The fruit is medium in size with great flavor.

Chocolate Stripes
Dark Red-brown having Green and Orange Striping
There was just something so pretty and unique about it. About 5oz, this one just is hard to describe. A delicate multicolor beauty that had a great flavor. When you grow a bajillion kinds of tomatoes and you can actually visualize it perfectly in your mind months later, you know it is something special.

Dark Galaxy
Red, black and speckled
Say what? Red, black and speckled? This a wacky intro by Brad Gates from Wild Boar Farms. He keeps us tomato growers hopping! This one is so interesting to me. Some might call it ugly, other might call it interesting and then some, like me, call it spectacular! This is a smaller fruited variety that has only been around for a few years and it is raising eyebrows for sure! Expect heavy production from the "out of this world" tomato.

Georgia Streak
Yellow with pink/red streaks throughout interior
This is a nice big one from...Georgia! Imagine that? Up to two lbs., this beefsteak is primarily a yellow at first glance but on closer inspection, you will notice pinkish red shading on the exterior and a distinct coloring within the flesh. A nice one.

Get Stuffed
Red with gold streaks stuffing tomato
I have listed stuffing type tomatos before but dropped them. Why? Because they didn't make any sense to me. I am not a chef type guy, everybody who knows me will attest to that. Not long ago, I ran across a short article with a photo of a stuffed tomato and it was a revelation. I had always visualized a cooked, stuffed Pepper. I knew there was no way you could actually bake a tomato like you would a pepper, even with my limited culinary skills, I knew it would turn to mush. So, anyway, this picture I saw....it was a tomato stuffed with a cold tuna salad! Duh! Of course! What a terrific idea- cold salads. Suddenly, the possibilities seem endless. What an elegant idea for a mid-summer meal.
Stuffers are kinda' weird. Essentially they are hollow. The seed is clustered together in the center, sort of like a strawberry shaped glob of jelly. A quick scoop and you are ready to go. Flavor-wise, the tomatos themselves are nothing to write home to Mom about about, but that is not the point. The size is medium, I would imagine it will take more than one to satisfy a piggish person like me. There are a couple other stuffing types you will run across in my list, such as Pink Stuffer. All re-added to our selection this year now that I know what we are supposed to do with them. For you chef-types, grow some of these. If you create a masterpiece, send a photo and perhaps a recipe you used and I will add it to this site. That would be so cool.

Green Zebra
Green bicolor
This Tomato has a bright chartreuse with deeper green stripes, quite eye catching. A lot of people know this Tomato and like it. The interior is a rather intense, juicy green-much like the variety Lime Green Salad which I like a lot. The flavor has a bit of zing to it- more tangy than an ordinary variety.

Hillbilly (potato leaf strain)
Bicolor
Another of the giant, big-ass multi-shaded beauties that are so good on a sandwich. Hillbilly hails from West Virginia (as do a lot of other old heritage varieties) and has been handed down since the 1800's. I guess I would call it a dark orange with an erratic pattern of muted yellow, pink and red. Even the interior has unique shading. Also known as Hillbilly Potato Leaf, it has......wait for it...... The Potato leaf trait! Quite productive for a big one.

Lucky Tiger
Green/yellowish with darker marbling
This is a unique and productive oblong cherry type. This one, along with several others in the Artisan series, I have found to be a terrific when grown along with other, more traditional shaped cherry types. The flavor is great- overall sweet but with a bit of tang. Sliced length wise, the make a good looking salad addition. Indeterminate grower but not rampant, it would make a pretty good choice if you are a container grower.

Lucid Gem
Orange with yellow and red interior
A beautiful name for a beautiful tomato! Yet another of the many varieties from the famous Wild Boar Farm. This one will delight you with the multiple hues that it produces. In addition to the red yellow and orange coloring, you will notice the strong bluish black shading across the fruit. Just a beauty in so many ways. This one produced well even as temps started climbing in my garden- others had begun to falter at this point. I enjoyed the flavor too- pretty even and on the mild side. I believe this is a sibling to Blue Beauty- itself a lovely tomato which we also offer.

Mammoth German Gold
Gold with red, indeterminate
You want to grow a really big-ass tomato? Well here 'ya go. This one is an old timer, been around since the 1800's and still going strong. With reasonable care, you will get a 1-2 lb. fruit that will impress the neighbors. The color, as you probably figure, is on the gold side of yellow but is, in fact, a bicolor. You will see strong red blushing and striping throughout the fruit. As is common in bicolors, the flavor is great- just the right mix of sweet and tang to give it a great flavor. I have noticed variation in the amount of red depending on the season- a very hot Spring will lean the color to gold. Cooler Springs bring out the red factor.

Mr. Stripey - Flossies strain
Yellow with red stripes
This is a different, perhaps better strain of the popular Mr. Stripey. Introduced by Appalachian Seeds, these large delicious beauties might well replace the other Mr. Stripey you grow. The color of this one is simply beautiful.

Mint Julip
This is a funny looking little tomato! Overall it is green but it is splashed with a darker green all over turning to a more yellow as it ripens. The shape is somewhere between a pear and a plum type. Good, sweet flavor with a bit of kick. Each fruit is about 1 oz. almost the size of a small Roma. Mint Julep is commented on quite often due to its beauty; worth growing just because it is kinda' weird.

Oaxacan Jewel
Yellowish and highly shaded with Pink
I love this one, plain and simple. Non demanding and easy to grow, I feel most people will have success with this variety. Something about the color, to me, is absolutely alluring- the subtle shifting of color is difficult to describe and the camera does not really pick it up. I also find this one to be very productive over a longer period than most. In the test rows, many of its neighbors had crapped out for the season yet Oaxacan Jewel was still chugging along. I would not love it near as much if it did not also have great flavor, rich and rather mild. Jewel is not an overstatement as tomatos go but I doubt I would wear it as a necklace.

Painted Lady
Reddish pink with stripes
Y'all who know me, know how queer I get for variegated forms of tomato plants. There is just something so intriguing about this trait. The fact that a utility plant such as tomato can possibly do double duty as an ornamental is just so fun to me. Perhaps other people may give me the side-eye on this notion but I just don't care! I love them! Lots of splashes of color in the foliage along with a highly patterned fruit make a total high-fashion statement (at least to horticulture nerds like me). Coming in at 3-4 oz., this puts the size at a small/medium. Did I mention that Painted Lady has the potato leaf trait also? She just has it all.

Pink Tiger
Pinkish with deeper marbling.
Another in the Artisan series, this fun cherry type is very appealing as are all in this series. Oblong, pretty and pointed at the end, you will have more than enough for a family from a single plant. I find them sweet but not overly so like some other cherries. Well balanced would pretty much best describe it. This is my favorite in the Artisan series though frankly, it is a close call. I like the color of this one. Indeterminate but not strongly so in my garden.

Prairie Fire

Long plum shaped fruit, not real big-saladette sized. Crisp texture with strong tomato flavor! This "style" of fruit has become very popular in the past few years.

Red Zebra
Red with orangish stripes
OK, this one is a real power house. These strong growing plants produce simply loads of attractive fruit. The flavor is great, I find it kind of classic in taste and very juicy. It seems as though this plant just wont shut down! Even in the heat of Summer, it keeps going for a long time. The size is perfect for salads, one or two slices per fruit and they are perfect to drop in. One thing I notice is that the color intensity stays strong all the season. Vigorous indeterminate grower.

Sart Roloise
White with blue shoulders, indeterminate
What a stunner this one is. I have a few others that are somewhat similar in this color pattern and they simply WOW me, Picture a basically white tomato with a big splash of deep bluish on top kinda shading down the sides and you would have a good idea of what it looks like. This is a cross between White Wonder (one of my perennial favorites) and Baby Blue. Created by Roland Boulanger in Sart Eustache, Belgium, this one takes my breath away. This big beefsteak type has a great flavor that White Wonder passed down along with the lovely blue of its other parent. A strong grower, you should try this one. Imagine what your neighbors will think when they see this one!

Solar Flare
Bicolor red with gold stripes
Coming in at 6-10 oz., Solar Flare is a good, hefty fruit that is remarkably pretty. I am very partial to these varieties that are striped. All those small squiggly lines of another color just makes them fun to look at. This is also a beefsteak type..few seeds and very meaty. Excellent flavor too! This large growing variety has impressed me!

Speckled Roman
Red with orange striping
Speckled Roman is a heavy bearing, richly flavored Roma style tomato that also happens to be quite unique in appearance. Thin, wavy orange stripes! This is a modern variety that shows just how much great breeding work is being done. This one is currently on my top-ten list of cool. Why be just plain 'ol red?!?

Sutton's Peach Blow
Pink with subtle shading
Why such a weird name? Well, Peach blow is a style of glass work popular in England in Victorian times. This tomato was introduced in 1897 by an English seed company that felt the skin, which has a slightly fuzzy feel, was similar to the feel of Peach Blow glass. Makes sense to me. At about 6oz., this is a good-sized medium delightfully sweet tomato you should enjoy.

Like Green Zebra in almost all ways except it is sweeter and of course, the color. Red with yellow stripes makes this 3 oz. fruit very appealing.

Mr. Stripey
Yellow marbled with red
I resisted growing and selling Mr. Stripy for a long time. Back about 20 years ago, a plant going under this name was being sold around here and it was awful. Small and sour best describes it. It was striped though for whatever that was worth. Anyway, it was an example of a misnamed variety and it turned me off. After a number of requests for this one, here ya' go! Now, the REAL Mr. Stripey is a very large fruited variety- often well over a pound when well grown. To me it is not so much as striped as much as swirled internally with multiple shades of red. The flavor leans strongly towards sweet. Quite a delicious way to cover your hamburger!

Vintage Wine
Red with Orange Speckles
What a pretty Tomato. The overall color is red but it is suffused with orange speckles. I am a fan of this look- we have several that have similar patterns. Intriguing to say the least. The interior is solid red. The flavor is typical old style Tomato, quite balanced. It is also very juicy and meaty. Size is medium plus at about 6.5 oz. You should really try one of these color masterpieces. Notice the change in color and pattern at full ripeness!

White Zebra
Pale with green stripes, indeterminate
Is it white? Palest yellow? Greenish? I don't know how best to classify it so I will toss it into the bicolor class.
This smallish power house will knock you over with its production of flavorful fruit. It is considered a white tomato with light green striping down its length. When ripe, it will show a light casting of yellow. The main thing to know is like all the other Zebras, it rocks when it comes to quantity of fruit. With its weird color, it is simply fun to grow. Some people feel it has a somewhat lemony flavor. I guess that is subjective as I do not catch that. Its flavor is bright and good to me. It is felt that White Zebra is synonymous
with Blonde Boar. Vigorous plant!
